George A. Sholy 
Associate Vice President - AECOM


Mr. George Sholy is a Seasoned Engineering Professional with over 22 years of
experience in the transportation private sector. Currently, he is working for AECOM USA
(Formerly DMJM Harris) in Piscataway, NJ as an Associate Vice President. Mr. Sholy
graduated in 1986 from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. with a B.S. degree in
Civil/Construction Engineering Technology. Mr. Sholy also graduated in 1984 from
Franklin Peirce University in Rindge, NH with a B.S. in Business Management.
As a Senior Project Manager, Mr. Sholy managed several large scale projects including
the Route 42 widening in Gloucester and Camden Counties ($42M), Route 33 Bypass
Extension in Freehold, NJ (43M) and the Route 46 over Overpeck Creek in Ridgefield Park
and Borough in Bergen County ($18M), Route 31 Bypass ($150M). Mr. Sholy was also
involved in several value engineering workshops including the Route 18 widening project
in New Brunswick, NJ which is currently under construction and had received the ASCE
and ASHE awards from the NJ Chapter as well as being one of the top 10 projects
nationally according to ASCE.


Vice President: 1 nominee
Mohamed Hosney Abdelgelil

Hosney Abdelgelil is the Project Controls Director of Hill International.  He is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of Program and Construction Management experience. He is an active member of the AAAEA, Project Management Institute and Building Smart Alliance.  He is currently serving in the AAAEA-Tri State Board of Directors as well as one of the nine members of the National Steering Committee.  
Hosney holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cairo University; has conducted a long term Project Management training in Project Management in Bremen University – Germany; acquired a Post-Graduate Diploma in Construction Management from Ain-Shams University and has a Master of Science in Construction Engineering and Management from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Qualifications for the Office:
Hosney has been actively engaged in the AAAEA Tristate activities and committees since inception.  He has coordinated and organized many of the chapter seminars and events as well as worked diligently to support all its initiatives.
 
Activities and services undertaken for the organization :
As a board member, he supported and stood for an open dialogue between all current and potential members from all backgrounds to achieve an optimal service for members including but not limited to:
 
• Raise awareness of members through educational seminars and events (Cross-disciplinary) in North and South Jersey as well as New York City
• Kick-Off the Interaction with other similar US and Non-Arab organizations to develop professional solidarity for our members
• Open communications with other Arab Organizations to increase support and develop solid culture roots
• Open dialogue with local government officials to place our organization under the sun
• Promote AAAEA Tri-State to businesses in the area specifically large Engineering / Architectural / Construction firms developing consistent support both financial and professional
• Along with the current president, started the dialogue to join Engineers for Change and Engineers Without Borders.  The benefits for that are expected to extend to all Arab Engineers.

1- Ahmed Zaza, P.E.
 
Engineering consultant in the fields of Energy, Construction, Safety and HVAC
Graduated from Helwan University in EGYPT with a B.S.M.E., Received M.S.I.E. from Polytechnic University in New York 1990.  Professional Engineer licensed in the State of New York .  Employed by the Tractor & Engineering Company as administrator of the mechanical engineering construction projects as Management Engineer in SHIRA Industries on 1983, and then Project Engineer in NYC DEP on 1990. Engineering consultant on local and international projects for Ambient Environmental in Florida, IBM in New York, NY Hospital, Turner Construction, IMA, SCA, DEP and others since 1998 until present.   Active member of NYSPE, ASCE, AIIE, PMI and joined Executive Committee of ASME New York City Metropolitan Section as Professional Chair member since 2000.

2- Fayez Fanik, P. E.

Mr. Fanik is the Supervisor of Enforcement for the Bureau of Housing Inspection, Department of Community Affairs. His duties include managing the State inspection program and inspection teams, the administering of the Bureau’s exception and exemption programs, and the issuing of written technical interpretations of the Hotel and Multiple Dwelling Law and it’s related regulations.  He is also an instructor at Mercer County Community college teaching building inspection courses for residential, commercial, High-rise, and High Hazard buildings.
Mr. Fanik has a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialty in Construction Project Management from Rutgers University. He holds licenses as a Professional Engineer, Construction Official, Building Subcode Official, Housing Code Official, Multiple Dwelling Inspector, and Special Inspector for Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete.  Mr. Fanik serves on two committees with the International Code Council, namely, the Consensus Committee on Hurricane Resistant Construction and the Reinforced/Prestressed Concrete Exam Development Committee.

Over 15 years of experience working for Construction Management, General Construction, and Design-Build industries. Currently managing construction rehabilitation projects (firehouses and communication commend centers) for FDNY and DDC in NYC 5 boroughs for the 3rd year, employed by URS Corp. I worked before for Earth Tech (Tyco International) and ICE representing and working for various Local/ State/ Federal clients: PANYNJ and PATH, USMA, DOT, VA…
Education: MBA from PACE University (NY-2009); MS in Construction Management from Stevens Inst. of Tech. (NJ, 2003); BS in Civil Engineering from Damascus University (Syria, 1994).

Abeer Elahraf
Abeer is and continues to be an educator. When she is challenged with a task  she will get it done. Abeer is very insightful and in tune with today's technologies. At work she is a go to person weather it's for advice or a solution. She is an accomplished PMP with a MS.

Mehdi Elafifi
Graduated with a Bachelor degree in Naval Architect and Marine Engineering (1985) from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Alexandria Egypt.
I got my advanced degree in Automation and Tanker operation from the same school in 1987.
In the USA I received several certification in Computer Science and Project Management.
I am currently working as a Senior Technical Analyst at Automatic Data Processing (ADP) in New Jersey in addition to working as an Educational Consultant and program developer at the Institute of Technical and Professional studies in Bloomfield College.

All members are encouraged to participate. Your continued help and support is important to all.
Elections will be held in a meeting to be held sometime in Feb, 2010.
