Tristate AAAEA 2009 Annual Conference

October 17, 2009 - 5-9pm

Dear Member,
This coming October 17th our association will celebrate 3 years of its life in the Tri-State area.  We invite you and your spouse to come and join our family of Arab American Engineers, Architects and IT Professionals.

This year, our chapter is honored to host the National Convention in Somerset, NJ.  Our colleagues from all over the country will join us in celebration of our third anniversary.   Further, we have two distinguished Keynote Speakers and guests.  The first, Bernard Amadei, PhD, University of Colorado, has earned title “An Engineering Newsmaker” by the Engineering News Record Magazine for his global efforts in the developing countries.

In addition to his duties as the Engineering and Architectural Department Chair, Dr. Amadei is the Director of the Mortenson Center in Engineering for Developing Communities and holds the Mortenson Endowed Chair in Global Engineering.  He is the Founding President of Engineers Without Borders - USA and the co-founder of the Engineers Without Borders-International network.

Dr. Amadei’s contribution to the engineering and science lead to his election to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, an honor that only a few have achieved.  Also, among other distinctions, Dr. Amadei is the 2007 co-recipient of the Heinz Award for the Environment and the recipient of the 2008 ENR Award of Excellence.

Dr. Amadei is not a stranger to the Arabic community.  His ongoing project; “Sustainable practices for affordable housing in Palestine” was reported as: “Out of the Stone Age: Empowering a West Bank village” by the Independent World News.

We will also have the pleasure of meeting Dr. Nasser Kutkut, PhD, VP of Technology & Business Development in Petra Solar Inc.  An Arab entrepreneur with over 15 years of technology leadership and management experience developing and commercializing innovative power conversion technologies as well as extensive technical expertise in the areas of renewable energy conversion systems, battery charging of electric & hybrid electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and smart grid technologies.  Currently, Dr. Kutkut leads the company’s technology development as well as business development efforts in the MENA region.

Other invited dignitaries include; his Excellency Governor Jon Corzine of New Jersey and US Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood.
Please join us, invite your colleagues and your employer to a dynamic exciting event.  More information to follow, please see the attached flyer.
